August InStep activity at Edward Ball nature trail
Even with a small turnout, a good time was still had by all on our early morning walk around the nature boardwalk at UWF. And of course, we had some caloric deficits to replenish at Bagelheads afterwards.

August InStep Activity
Please join us Sunday morning at 8:00 AM for our August InStep activity. We are meeting on the campus of UWF to walk/run the Edward Ball nature trail. Our activity will be from 8-9 AM.
Anyone who is interested can then join us and purchase breakfast or simply fellowship at Bagelheads on the corner of 9 Mile Road and University Pkwy immediately following our walk/run.
Come and enjoy this time of fellowship and fitness. All ages and fitness levels welcome!

Please join us this Sabbath for an InStep walk at the UWF boardwalk after church. Bring a picnic lunch to enjoy in the pavilion behind the church immediately following the church service. We will then carpool to the boardwalk parking lot at UWF. Ms.CliAnn Pitman will be hosting this event and you can direct any question to myself (Erika 473-1940) during this week or her at church on Sabbath. We are looking forward to an excellent time of fellowship and fresh air! Bring your pedometers and rack up those step!!!

The March activity was much warmer!
We had cyclists, roller-bladers, dog-walkers, ripstickers and a few run-of-the-mill walkers in our group.
We went a total of 4 miles! Some of the kids were tired at the halfway mark, but they all made it back.
It was great to have such a turnout! Maybe we'll have even more for April's group activity?

It was cold (54 degrees).
It was blustery (15-20 mph).
It was fun (17,342,441 muu's (made-up units))
We had a great time.
And enjoyed the beauty of our beaches
Hopefully next time the weather will be nicer and we'll see more of you out with us!

Progress
We now have three people who have passed the 100 mile mark and one exerciser has exceeded 200 miles!!! See the chart at church to find out who it is.
Congrats! Keep up the good work everyone.
Beach Picnic and Walk
Please plan to meet us after church on February 11 for our first InStep picnic and a walk on Pensacola Beach.
We will meet first at the picnic tables for lunch on our church pavilion. When we'll head down to the beach (plan on carpooling if possible because there is a $1 charge per car to cross the ridge) and meet back up right across from Portofino resort and condos. It's "Lot D" and you'll recognize it by the small gazebo on the east side of the parking lot.
Then we'll walk and fellowship and enjoy this beautiful beach we are so blessed to live near! Don't worry about how fast you walk, we'll have people of all abilities, you won't be left behind. There's no set distance though we hope for at least two miles. There's a paved walking/bike path so you won't be struggling through the sand unless you want to.
A detailed map will be available at church on the 11th.

Amazing progress!
To congratulate some and hopefully inspire others...
First, let me thank those of you who turned in your PAL worksheets. The miles are adding up already! Be sure to check for your name on the progress chart in the foyer.
Second, let me tell you about one of our very own InStepper's progress:
FIFTY-ONE MILES IN ONE WEEK! All tracked by simply wearing a pedometer and adding up step after step. The personal goal was set for 12,000 steps/day. On one of those days, the actual count of what this dedicated InStepper had done was...over 26,000 steps!
Awesome!
Keep up the great work guys and gals!
Don't forget to get your kids involved too.

Updated URL
For those of you that have been using upsdainstep.blogspot.com as the URL to get to this page, you can continue to use that to get here.
However, in an effort to make the URL somewhat more memorable and/or easier to type, we've acquired getinstep.info which will redirect here.
Information
If you need a pedometer or physical activity log (PAL) sheet for your individual workouts, please contact Erika Peterson.
Don't forget! There'll soon be a poster in the foyer tracking individual progress. Turn in your PAL sheets weekly in the baskets provided so we can be sure to accurately record your progress toward our goal. Don't feel bad if you don't walk as much as some - every bit helps. But if you want to challenge a friend and make it a race, we won't criticize that initiative!
Stay tuned for details regarding the February group activity. If the weather permits, we plan for that one to be on the beach!
